Azafran restaurant

By Tangi Davis
Today I am reviewing Azafran restaurant on Olas Altas, in the heart of zona romántica near the beach. It is a special restaurant week menu, 3 courses for $399 pesos.
My friend ordered a mixed salad with beets, goat cheese, candied nuts with a raspberry dressing. It was fresh and plentiful.
Interesting use of fennel and pea sprouts as well as pepitos and sunflower seeds. I had an avocado mango tartar with deliciously seared shrimp and light garnish of black olives.
Main course was roast salmon with saffron glaze served over a seafood foam and garnished with toasted almonds.
It was light and moist! I had braised short ribs which were not the best (not a regular menu item so I have to cut the chef a break).
It was served with vanilla glazed baby carrots and zucchini.
Dessert was apple beignets served with sweet vanilla ice cream, assorted fruits and fresh mint.
I will be going back to sample their regul.
