Does It Rain All Summer in Puerto Vallarta?

Summer fun in Puerto Vallarta

23 July, 2019

The famous musical play, “My Fair Lady” has a song that says, ‘the rain in Spain is mainly on the plain.”  So, what does that have to do with the rain in summer in Puerto Vallarta and the other quaint towns around Banderas Bay, from the northern tip of Punta Mita to the southern tip of Yelapa Beach? This. The rain in Puerto Vallarta’s “rainy season,” is mainly at night, for a quick burst, then it’s back to Puerto Vallarta’s famous great weather, beach days, body temperature ocean and clear, blue skies.

HOW HOT IS HOT DURING PUERTO VALLARTA’S SUMMER?

It's 84 degrees in Puerto Vallarta today and the long-range forecast is around 86 degrees. A lot less that what’s going on in the States and Canada. Alaska topped out at 89. 100+ is forecast from much of America, so not only is the weather in Puerto Vallarta relatively cool, the entire Bay of Banderas is extremely cool, in all the ways you want it to be.

WHAT’S THERE TO DO IN A PUERTO VALLARTA SUMMER?

Actually, the word, everything, is inadequate to describe all there is to do in a Puerto Vallarta Summer. The crowds have thinned out a bit, but the activities are booming. Of course, there is the beach along the famous Banderas Bay, all 51 miles of it. There’s golf and tennis, fishing and hiking, sunning and funning, hiking and exploring, dining and dancing, and so much more. Yesterday’s clear blue skies were filled with parasailers, the surf was full of swimmers and surfers and our sparkling powder white beaches were full of happy faces and colorful swimsuits. And there was no seaweed anywhere to see.

EVEN IN THE RAIN THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO DURING PUERTO VALLARTA’S SUMMER.

When it rains, for the short hour or two, at night, my suggestion is to wet your insides at one of Puerto Vallarta’s amazing bars or clubs. Try a Mojito, my favorite, a piña colada, a margarita or the perennial favorite, an ice-cold cerveza. Puerto Vallarta and the entire Bay has 100’s of great places to eat, from toe in the sands, Oceanside restaurants, to world-class international cuisine, homey Mexican cuisine to street side taco stands that have people standing in line for their scrumptious delights.

SUMMER IS A BARGAIN IN PUERTO VALLARTA.

You can find good fares, great low season rates at our amazing resorts or Airbnb’s, great promotions that are 2X1 or 3X1, I’ve even seen 6X100 pesos for beer, which is about $5 US. So, forget your umbrella but bring your sunscreen.  Travelers who come here know it; you’ll get a lot wetter in the sparkling Pacific during summer than you will in the rain.  Check it all out at bestofbanderasbay.com then charter one of Dave’s boats and really get wet.
