Nuevo Vallarta. One of the best of the best of Banderas Bay

Nuevo Vallarta. One of the best of the best of Banderas Bay

I always joke with Canadians that the reason they love Nuevo Vallarta so much is because it’s north of Puerto Vallarta. But by north I mean only a few miles or a few minutes by car or bus. But one thing I can assure you of, it is loaded with Grande pleasures all it’s own.
As the name implies, Nuevo Vallarta is full of newer condos, newer resorts, newer homes and communities, newer super markets, golf courses, restaurants and hotels.
What isn’t new is the charm of its people, the pleasures of its ultra-clean, powdery white beaches, the sensory joys of sitting in a beachfront, palapa covered, delicious little restaurant, having a piña colada and dipping a just made chip into some handmade guacamole, while the Pacific roles to shore and the seabirds swoop in to the sounds of native guitars strumming happy tunes.
The other night, my Amiga and I feasted on a huge plate of just caught shrimps. A masterly made whole red snapper and a drink or two and our bill came to an astounding $400 pesos, or around $20 USD….for both of us. If perfection has a price, it sure is a bargain in Nuevo Vallarta or any of the other equally amazing towns around Banderas Bay, from Punta Mita to Yelapa. You could throw a dart into a map of Banderas Bay and no matter where it lands, you will have the time of your life.
Where I live in the Flamingos of NV, you can take a delightful beach walk, or follow the woodland trail and in a few minutes you’ll be in Bucerias, with all its quaint markets, art galleries, Havana cigar stores and charming town square where kids still play next to the handmade ice cream stands that could teach Ben and Jerry a thing or thirty.

For me, Nuevo is the middle of the magic circle surrounding Banderas Bay. Downtown Puerto Vallarta is minutes south if you are looking for the crowds, the Malecon or the cake lady.
Nuevo Vallarta has it all. A brand new casino has just opened next door to the giant Chedraui Store on the main road so there will be as much action off the beach as on it. And the sybaritic pleasures of Punta Mita are just a few minutes up the coast.
Come dive, snorkel, water ski, paraglide, parasail, deep-sea fish, rent a bike, a wave runner or just plop in a hammock and chill. What ever you chose to do or wherever you chose to stay, Nuevo Vallarta will stay on top of the best places you have ever been or vacationed.

As a long-time friend of The Banderas Bay – Nuevo Vallarta just doesn’t tickle my toes… However, there are restaurants that make me smile; Mr. Cream, Barracuda, Sonora Sur, Tino’s La Laguna just to name a few which I like mucho. In writing this – I know I’ll continue to support local restaurants in NV. Hopefully, the locals living in NV will do better at supporting the Kite Surfing Festival. The festival is a fun local venue. But certainly, it’s going to need additional attendees to continuee here in the Bay. I think it costs $100 ps to enter – that’s a cool price, food is great the entertainment is too.
Thank you
