Cities of the Bay - About Yelapa

Yelapa is a tiny beach town in Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, México. The village is in the southernmost cove of the 7th largest bay in the world, Bahía de Banderas or "Banderas Bay".

The only way to access Yelapa is through the ocean, there are many boats and ferries that offer water taxi services at a very affordable price. Other people who like to exercise may choose to do the famous hike, so they travel from Puerto Vallarta to Boca de Tomatlan in the bus and then hike from Boca to Yelapa.

The area may had been first populated by natives of the tribe which originated in the town of Tenacatitlan, located 100 miles up north, during their migration south to later become the Aztec empire.
